Turkey became the largest buyer of Russian wheat last year, pushing Egypt into second place. Iran was the third-largest buyer after it doubled purchases compared with the previous season. Barley exports reached a record 5.3 million tonnes in 2014/15. More than half going to Saudi Arabia and Iran also became a large buyer of Russian barley.

Wheat exports decline to 1.5 million tonnes in July compared to year earlier because of a tax on foreign sales of wheat launched on July 1.
